Koosawu Áa (Narrow Lake)

This lake was an important travel corridor for the Chilkat Tlingit as well as Southern Tutchone peoples. The water route leading from the coast to Kusawa Lake was owned by the Ganaxtedi’h, a raven moiety clan, and the Dåklåwedi’h, an eagle moiety clan from Klukwan. Kohklux, Glave, Dalton, Wells, and other notable historical figures accessed the interior via this route. The first European to lay eyes on the lake was the German Arthur Krause. Guided by one of Kohklux’s sons, Krause visited the interior in 1881.
