Lax̱ách’

This spot was known as the place where salmon rested for a week before making their way up the Chilkat River. There were seal there as well. [3] Centuries of glacial rebound and silt deposition have pushed the sea back, and now it is too sandy and shallow. At low tide and low river levels you can now walk out to the island. George Davidson placed U.S. Coast Survey Alaska monument #1 at the summit of Pyramid Island in 1867. This was to be the basis for all survey points on the Alaskan coast [1].
