This was the site of a fort held by the Haines or Yendistuky based L’uknax.ádi Tlingits. It was also a main eulachon fishing spot. When the highway was being built up the river from Haines in the 1940s, people from Klukwan successfully stopped construction of the highway from entering Chilkat lands beyond this point, at least for a short period of time [11]. In those days this was commonly held as representing entry into Klukwan territory [11].
